Company History

In 1986, W.A. (Bill) Ellis, owner of W.A. Ellis Construction Co. of Independence, Missouri, and B.G. (Bill) McGinnis purchased McKown Bridge Company, headquartered in Round Rock, Texas, from the retiring B.A. (Bill) McKown.

Ellis & McGinnis, both registered professional civil engineers, at that time had a combined experience of over sixty-five years constructing dams, tunnels, roads, bridges, railroads, pipelines and power plants. McKown Bridge Company, with a distinguished fifty year history in Texas as a heavy highway bridge and concrete contractor, with a wealth of experienced employees and specialized equipment, was a perfect fit for Bill Ellis and Bill McGinnis.

The company headquarters was moved to Eddy, Texas, and in 1988 was incorporated as Ellis-McGinnis Construction Co. (EMCO). In 1996, Ellis sold his interest in the company, creating the current McGinnis family owned business. The company has continued to expand and grow in the construction industry.

As we now enter into our fourth decade of service, our mission is to continue constructing projects with high quality workmanship and materials at a fair cost and ahead of schedule.
